General Preparations

- If you are on a well, store up a little water
- Keep your refrigerator and freezers shut (as much as possible)
HVAC System Protection - Secure outdoor AC units to prevent damage from high winds
- If flooding is a concern, elevate furnaces, water heaters, and other
equipment as possible - Have surge protectors in place to protect electrical components
Generator Readiness - If you have a generator, test it ahead of time to ensure it’s
running properly - Keep extra fuel on hand, stored safely
- Ensure proper ventilation to prevent carbon monoxide risk
- Secure a long extension cord so you can run the generator outside
