General Preparations

  • Flashlights with good batteries
  • If you are on a well, store up a little water
  • Keep your refrigerator and freezers shut (as much as possible)
    HVAC System Protection
  • Secure outdoor AC units to prevent damage from high winds
  • If flooding is a concern, elevate furnaces, water heaters, and other
    equipment as possible
  • Have surge protectors in place to protect electrical components
    Generator Readiness
  • If you have a generator, test it ahead of time to ensure it’s
    running properly
  • Keep extra fuel on hand, stored safely
  • Ensure proper ventilation to prevent carbon monoxide risk
  • Secure a long extension cord so you can run the generator outside
